You ask me a method of attaining perfection. I know of love – and only love. Love can do all things.
St Therese of Lisieux
Welcome back to Term 4. I hope the holidays were refreshing and you are looking forward to the final academic term of 2020. I thank all parents for sending their son back with their summer uniform in good order. Our new Year 12 students should have begun the term with a three-day retreat, instead this year a single Senior Reflection Day was held at school. I would like our new Year 12 students to know how impressed the staff were with the way the boys engaged in the program, this House-based activity gifted the students with a precious commodity – ‘time’ - this simple gift affords our students to think, reflect and challenges them to set goals. Our Formation and Mission teams and the accompanying staff worked with Year 12 students to prepare them for the challenges of the coming academic year, allowed them to reevaluate their social connections and to support their faith development.
Our existing Year 12 students are in the final stages of examination preparation. We ask you continue to keep the students and, importantly, their parents in your thoughts and prayers. The students have been positive about their readiness, with many of them making use of the library in the Goold building to study onsite this week. With the support of staff and parents, the students are well prepared, and we know they are working hard. The HSC Examinations commence on Tuesday 20 October at 9:50 am with English Paper 1. We have communicated directly with our Year 12 students and their families but I suspect it is worth our community knowing the College has put into place COVID-19 protocols that surpass the Government advice, these include the creation of an onsite HSC ‘bubble’; sanitising examination rooms before and after every examination and the securing of an alternate site if it was to be required.
The summer season for ISA/IPSHA Basketball, Cricket, Rowing and Water polo commences on Saturday and all the players and coaches excited to be back into school sport again. I wish all our teams an enjoyable commencement to the season.
The College has carefully followed all Government guidelines and the following COVID-19 safety protocols are in place. It is expected that all players, officials and spectators follow the COVID-19 protocols. In particular, I emphasise that each venue may choose variations on spectator access, COVID-19 sign in procedures and arrival and departure processes for visiting teams. I would ask that as a community we follow the arrangements that each venue puts in place.

Rest in Peace
Your prayers are requested for the Wilson family following the recent passing of Carrol Wilson, mother of Scott Wilson (Class of 1984) and Craig Wilson (Class of 1985) and grandmother of Jake Wilson (Year 6).
May the Lord welcome Carrol into his kingdom of peace.
