Carson Amate, Prefect and Hutchinson House Captain
As we approach this July holiday period, it is time to relax and enjoy spending time with your family and friends. This holiday period is a time to rejuvenate for Term 3, and for the Year 12s, along with the accelerated students from Year 11, a time to prepare for their HSC Trial examinations. For students undertaking Trial examinations, this will be a very stressful and time-consuming process in order to adequately prepare. For students struggling to cope with significant workloads, the College staff are there to help, not only in their academic success but also their mental health and wellbeing. Staff members devote a significant amount of their time in the ARC and preparing holiday classes for students and marking additional work. I would encourage all boys to take advantage of these holiday classes in order to consolidate their learning and have the best opportunity at succeeding in their HSC.
It is crucial that students in all Year Groups use this holiday effectively and take time to relax. As a student, I understand that a work/life balance is a key to success. With the recent easing of social distancing restrictions, it will enable us to more easily spend time with people that we love and participate in co-curricular activities.
Hutchinson House will be supporting our chosen charity Lifeline by setting up the annual Lifeline Giant Book Fair to be held from 2 to 5 July 2020 in the Brimson Centre. Lifeline is a national charity providing Australians access to 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services.
I would encourage as many boys as possible, not just Hutchinson House boys, to join in this worthwhile cause by assisting with set up on Tuesday 30 June from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Wednesday 1 July from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Remember, ‘many hands make light work’ so if you are free, please come in and help with the set up. It is a great opportunity for boys to support a fantastic foundation that does so much good in our community.
