Senior Reflection Day Thursday 15 October (Term 4, Week 1)
This year has been different and difficult for so many families and has caused the cancellation of many usual College events. Our normal 3-day Senior Retreat for Year 11 cannot proceed next term, and we are instead planning for an extended Reflection Day to be held on 15 October onsite at the College. Current Year 11 families have been provided with details about the event. Please direct any queries or questions to Simon Hyland.
Do you remember your Confirmation name?
Year 8 students are currently studying the Sacraments of Initiation in Religious Education: Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. In the Sacrament of Confirmation, a candidate chooses the name of a saint and so I asked students in my class if they remember what name they chose. This started a great discussion about why we choose a saint’s name and what our saint was famous for?
Saint Paul says, “We are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1) In choosing a Confirmation saint, we are choosing someone special to intercede for us in heaven and after whom we can model our lives while here on earth.
My Confirmation saint was St Stephen. Do you remember your confirmation name?
If not, who would you choose as a saint to model your life upon?
