2021 Student Leadership Team appointed

A changing of the guard occurred last Friday with the appointment of our 2021 Student Leadership Team.

Fifteen Year 11 students have stepped up to not only lead, but encourage, guide and promote the College as a whole, and in their specific portfolios including the Houses and areas of academia, creative and performing arts, sport, wellbeing, International office, student representative council and mission.

The Appointment Assembly for the 2021 Student Leadership Team was a quieter event than in previous years due to COVID-19 restrictions but every bit as exciting. Our 2020 Leaders officially handed over their duties in the Ceremony of Light, calling on the new leaders to care for the students as they and past leaders have done.

Being selected to represent St Augustine’s College in this capacity is quite an honour which comes with great responsibility and the boys who succeeded, underwent a careful selection process. In saying this, there are always many more worthy applicants than positions available and I would like to commend all the boys who put their names forward. We are extremely fortunate to have so many capable, fine young men who strive to lead our student body. I would like to thank everyone who applied.

Student absences – travel during Term

There are a number of families who have chosen to travel to the snow during Term time. While I acknowledge the many reasons being relayed to the College in explanation of a student’s absence, please understand it can only be noted as an Unapproved Absence. We are required to follow guidelines in relation to the NSW Education Act and cannot approve family holidays. Please also understand that it is then the student’s responsibility to keep up to date with any missed work and submit all assessments prior to departure. I would ask parents whose sons are falling behind on school work, not to put added pressure on them by taking them away from classes.
