Term 3 Welcome Back
A warm welcome back to all students and in particular to our new students and families. We are pleased you have joined our community and hope that you make some new, forever friends.
Dealing with Grief
The return to school came with huge sadness for our community with the tragic news of the passing of Barney Wakes-Miller, Year 11. We continue to pray for all of the boys and their families who have been impacted by this incident.
In order to help parents deal with the grief both they and their sons may be feeling, our College Psychologists will be holding a webinar on ‘Supporting Your Adolescent Through Grief’. This will take place on Tuesday 4 August 2020 at 7:00pm. It is open to any College parent/guardian/caregiver. Details will be emailed to all parents soon. This webinar will also be recorded so that parents who are unable to join can still view it in their own time. It will also be a useful resource for parents to revisit.
Year 12 Graduation Events
I am sure all parents of Year 12 watched their sons leave for school on Tuesday morning with a sense of time passing, knowing that this is their son’s last term at school. As you can imagine, there are a number of events the College holds in order to mark the boys’ graduation from school life, into the exciting world beyond. This year however, our usual plans have been somewhat thwarted by COVID-19. In order to keep Year 12 parents/guardians and the boys up to date on the plans, a webinar has been organised for Monday night 27 July 2020 starting at 7:00pm. Jonathan Byrne and I will talk through plans so that we may still give the boys a fitting farewell and make their Graduation memorable. A link to this webinar and further information will be sent to all Year 12 parents and boys soon.
Uniform Reminders
As we begin a new Term, it is timely for me to remind you of some uniform expectations. Would you please ensure that your son is adhering to the following requirements:
- Hair – must be neat and in line with College expectations. No extreme haircuts are permitted.
- Jumpers – the green, or new black school jumper is to be worn. Boys are not permitted to wear hoodies or their sports jackets.
- Blazers – are to be worn to and from school each day
- Black belts and black socks – are to be worn.
Start of day reminder times
I would ask parents to please remind your son that the school day begins at 8:40am. Notification music plays at 8:38am alerting the boys to start moving to their lockers in preparation for Tutor Group which commences at 8.40am sharp. Students are expected to be in their Tutor Group on time. If they are late, they must enter through College Reception and sign/tap in. If your son is going to be absent for the day please advise the College by emailing absence@saintaug.nsw.edu.au or phoning 9938 8200.
